Q What is the Chittenango Soccer Club? A CSC is a community-based soccer organization designed to provide youth with an opportunity to learn and develop skills in preparation for playing soccer at the school level. The skills and level of competition increase with age and experience. In order to participate at a competitive level, players are expected to show a commitment to learning and attending weekly practices and games. Indoor soccer offers two sessions, October through January, and then February through April. Outdoor soccer is offered during the spring and summer months. Q Who sets the rules and regulations? A The CSC adheres to the rules and regulations of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) through affiliation with the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and the New York State West Youth Soccer Organization. The CSC is also affiliated with Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) and Mid-state New York Soccer League. For outdoor soccer, CSC is a member of CNYJSA (Central New York Junior Soccer Association). This governing organization sets the rules and procedures that CSC must follow for outdoor soccer. Q How is Chittenango Soccer Club (CSC) different from Sullivan Community Council (SCC) Parks and Recreation Programs? A Chittenango Soccer Club provides a year-round soccer program. The focus is on learning soccer skills in order to play competitively. Sullivan Community Council provides a wide variety of great programs throughout the year. This includes instructional soccer (for youth in grades K and 1), recreational soccer (for youth in grades 2 - 6), and soccer camps. These soccer programs are offered during the outdoor season only. Q What is the difference between a CSC team and a Blitz/Premier team? A CSC is for the community and by the community. Our players are from the Chittenango area and, in keeping with the CSC mission, all members have an opportunity to develop soccer skills in preparation for playing at the school level. A Blitz or Premier team is not a community-based team. It is comprised of players from multiple communities who are required to tryout for a position on the team. This type of team has extensive training, travel, and involves a greater time and financial commitment. Q Who are the members of Chittenango Soccer Club? A You! The parents of children who participate in soccer club activities are the members of CSC. The Officers and the Board of Directors, the coaches, and the mangers are all parent volunteers who work hard to make this club a success. The Officers and the Board of Directors hold a two-year term and are voted in by those who attend the first annual meeting in September. Q What can I do to help? A First, contact your team coach or manager to find out what he or she needs. Just volunteering to make phone calls or sending information via e-mail can be a huge help. Bringing nutritious snacks for the team to enjoy after games, hosting a team party, being a parent representative to attend the CSC meetings are just a few ideas. Your positive support is very important to the overall success of this club. Q When are the meetings for CSC? A CSC meets the first Wednesday of each month from September through June. The meetings are held at Delphia's Restaurant in Chittenango at 7:00 PM. Q How do I register my child for CSC? A Registrations are accepted at the annual registration picnic usually held the last Sunday of August. You can also register your child in January, before the start of the second session of indoor soccer, or in the spring, before the outdoor season begins. See your coach for more specific times. All participants are required to submit a check for $25.00 (or $50.00 maximum per family) made out to Chittenango Soccer Club, a 1" x 1" photo of your child for a player pass, and a completed registration form. All new players are required to submit a copy of their birth certificate. Q What does the $25.00 registration fee cover? A This fee covers the cost to insure each player for the year. It also covers expenses for postage, equipment, field supplies, and the tuition required for coaches to attend training clinics. Q Can my child play on more than one team? A Yes. However, any child listed on more than one roster must be designated to a primary team. If your child is on more than one indoor team and there are conflicting game times, the player's responsibility lies with his/her primary team. It is the responsibility of the player and parents to communicate with the primary coach and the secondary coach regarding game conflicts, including consecutive game times (for instance, when the secondary team plays just before the primary team). If the primary team has enough players, the primary coach can offer the player to the secondary team if he or she is needed there instead. This is done to show courtesy and support for carrying out the mission of CSC. If you believe that it is in the best interest of your child, he or she can play on more than one outdoor team at his or her age division and older. Each player can only be on one roster at each division. A primary team must be designated, and as with indoor soccer, the primary team takes priority. All game conflicts must be clearly communicated between parents and coaches. Players in the U15 age bracket and older may substitute in older age division teams. Coaches, players, and parents will be required to sign an acknowledgement form (Player Sharing and Transfer Form) that shows that all have communicated and agreed that the player can participate on more than one team. Q How do I switch my child from one team to another? A Parents who wish to transfer their child from one team to another must inform the primary coach. Then all must sign the Player Sharing and Transfer Form before the change takes place. Q If I have a problem or a concern regarding my child's team or the CSC, who do I talk to? A First approach your team manager or coach. If the problem is not resolved you can talk with the Vice President of the Club, Sue Elderbroom (687-3189). Please remember that this is an organization that is run by parents who care about the overall development of the youth in our community. The success of this program depends on everyone working together. It is important for everyone to communicate in a clear, consistent, and courteous manner.
